About Me

I recently graduated from the University of Sheffield with an LLB, and over the past few years I’ve realised that what I enjoy most about law is its impact on people. I’m interested in the human side of law just as much as the legal principles themselves.A lot of what I’ve learnt hasn’t come from lectures. Volunteering with Support Through Court, spending time in law firms and chambers, and speaking to people from different backgrounds has shown me how varied legal problems can be. It’s also made me more aware of how important it is to listen properly and not lose sight of the person behind the case.I’m naturally quite curious, so I tend to explore different areas of law rather than focusing too early on one path. At the moment, I’m particularly interested in civil law and areas where legal advice can make a real difference to someone’s situation. I’m currently looking for opportunities where I can keep learning and do work that feels meaningful.

Legal Experience

Mini-Pupillage - St John's ChambersMay 2026I completed a week-long mini-pupillage with a barrister specialising in criminal law and personal injury. During the week, I attended conferences and spoke with both solicitors and barristers about their experiences in practice.I found the personal injury side really interesting, especially attending a conference discussing personal injury damages. I already had a natural interest in helping people who have experienced significant losses, and seeing how these cases are approached made me realise how important it is to support clients with empathy.I also had some really interesting discussions about access to justice, the right to a fair trial and the responsibility of representing clients within criminal law. What I appreciated most was seeing how much of legal practice involves managing relationships and emotions. The barrister I shadowed was exceptionally good at building strong relationships with clients, solicitors and other professionals while remaining professional, which showed me how important the human side of law is.

Mini-Pupillage - 18 St John's ChambersJanuary 2026Completed a three-day mini-pupillage after securing the opportunity through networking. Shadowed barristers practising in family and personal injury law.Reviewed a case bundle exceeding 100 pages and observed how barristers distilled complex evidence into persuasive legal arguments.

Work Experience - Hall Brown Family LawFebruary 2025Supported solicitors by attending client calls, drafting file notes and assisting with day-to-day administrative work.Contacted barristers' chambers to obtain fee estimates and observed the importance of empathy, professionalism and clear communication when advising clients through emotionally challenging situations.

Professional Experience

Teaching AssistantMarch 2026 - PresentBeing a teaching assistant has been one of the most rewarding roles I've had so far. I enjoy working with curious and inquisitive young people, and no two days are really the same.The role has required me to adapt to a wide range of subjects, including maths and English, often supporting students one-to-one and helping them work through tasks in a way that makes sense to them. I've also worked closely with teachers to help create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, which has taught me a lot about patience and adapting my approach depending on the student.

Hospitality AssistantOctober 2024 - PresentI have worked within fast-paced hospitality teams during major sporting events, delivering excellent customer service while managing multiple priorities under pressure.

Retail Assistant - John LewisMay 2023 - September 2023Worked across the beauty, menswear, womenswear and jewellery departments, providing personalised customer service and helping customers find products suited to their needs. I was also trusted to independently manage the beauty counter at times, using my product knowledge to support customers, provide recommendations and maintain the high standard of service expected at John Lewis.

Customer Assistant - Waitrose(Nov 2020 - Jan 2021) (April 2024 - August 2024)Supported a busy retail environment during periods of high customer demand. Assisted customers with queries, maintained organisation and hygiene standards, and developed strong communication and problem-solving skills while working as part of a team.

Volunteering

Service Volunteer - Support Through CourtOctober 2023 - May 2024(TBC) Provided practical and emotional support to litigants representing themselves in court.Assisted clients with preparing documents, including C100 and N1 forms and explained court procedures in clear, accessible language. Accompanied clients to hearings, helping individuals navigate what was often an unfamiliar and highly stressful legal process.
